Karnataka govt mulls ‘Karnataka Mandapam’ modelled on Bharat Mandapam, says CM Shivakumar

Chief Minister Basavaraj Shivakumar announced that Karnataka is studying the feasibility of a state‑level exhibition centre modelled on the newly built Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
Bengaluru, Sept 28 (HT) – Karnataka's Chief Minister Basavaraj Shivakumar said the state government is evaluating the creation of a "Karnataka Mandapam" that would mirror the design and purpose of the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. The proposal aims to provide a world‑class venue for trade fairs, cultural events and international exhibitions within the state.
Shivakumar indicated that the project is still in the conceptual stage and will involve detailed feasibility studies, including land acquisition, financing and alignment with existing infrastructure plans in Bengaluru. He emphasized that a dedicated centre could boost Karnataka's tourism, manufacturing exports and attract foreign investment.
The state government has not disclosed a timeline or budget for the initiative. Officials are expected to consult with central authorities and private partners before finalising any commitments.
If approved, the Karnataka Mandapam could become a flagship infrastructure project, complementing other development schemes announced by the Shivakumar administration.
