Karnataka Dismisses GST Link Rumor in Grihalakshmi Scheme, No ₹2,000 Deduction for Women
The Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Department clarified that linking GST numbers to women's bank accounts will not result in a ₹2,000 deduction from the Grihalakshmi scheme, debunking social media rumors.
The Karnataka government has refuted a rumor circulating on social media that linking a GST number to a woman's bank account would trigger a deduction of ₹2,000 from the Grihalakshmi scheme.
The Women and Child Welfare Department issued a statement clarifying that the scheme's benefits remain unchanged and no such deduction will be made, irrespective of GST linkage.
Officials said the misinformation has caused confusion among beneficiaries and urged the public to rely only on official communications for updates on welfare programmes.
The department also reminded that the Grihalakshmi scheme continues to provide financial assistance to eligible women and children as per existing guidelines.
