Karnataka state and the Republic of Bulgaria have opened talks to cooperate on bio‑energy, renewable power and green technologies, according to The Tribune.
Karnataka's government and officials from the Republic of Bulgaria have initiated a dialogue aimed at building a strategic partnership in the fields of bio‑energy, renewable power and green technologies, the Tribune reported. The two sides intend to explore joint research projects, technology transfer arrangements and investment opportunities that could accelerate clean‑energy deployment in both regions.
Key areas of focus include biomass‑based power generation, solar and wind energy integration, and the development of low‑carbon industrial processes. Both governments see the cooperation as a way to leverage Karnataka's growing renewable‑energy market and Bulgaria's expertise in European green‑tech standards.
The proposed collaboration aligns with Karnataka's ambition to increase its renewable‑energy capacity and meet India's climate commitments, while Bulgaria aims to strengthen its ties with Indian states under the EU's external green agenda. Delegations from each side are expected to meet in the coming weeks to finalize a framework for cooperation.
If formalised, the partnership could open avenues for private‑sector participation, create skilled‑job opportunities and contribute to sustainable economic growth in both jurisdictions.
