A three-year-old tigress infected with canine distemper virus died in Kanha Tiger Reserve, bringing the total number of tigers killed by the virus to eight.

The ongoing canine distemper virus outbreak in Kanha Tiger Reserve has claimed another life. A three-year-old tigress succumbed to the infection while undergoing treatment in the Mukki sector of the reserve.

According to reports, the tigress had wandered into Kanha from another territory before contracting the fatal virus. Her death marks a significant escalation in the impact of the disease on the local tiger population.

With this latest tragedy, the total number of tigers that have died due to the canine distemper virus in the reserve has risen to eight. Wildlife authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further spread among the remaining population.
