Kanak News Odisha aired its new 9PM Headlines program on 23 October 2026, delivering the day's top stories in Odia.
On 23 October 2026, the Odia-language news channel Kanak News Odisha began broadcasting its flagship 9PM Headlines segment. The half‑hour bulletin, titled "9PM Headlines," was scheduled to air nightly at 9 p.m. and aimed to provide viewers with a concise roundup of the day's most important events across Odisha and the nation.
The launch was marked by a brief studio introduction from the channel's senior anchor, who highlighted the program's focus on fast‑paced, fact‑checked reporting. The inaugural edition covered a mix of local developments, national policy updates, and weather alerts, all delivered in Odia to cater to the regional audience.
Kanak News Odisha officials said the new slot is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the channel's prime‑time presence and compete with other regional broadcasters. They also emphasized that the bulletin will incorporate live reports, expert analysis, and short video packages to keep viewers informed within a tight timeframe.
Industry observers note that expanding prime‑time news offerings is a common trend among regional channels seeking higher viewership and advertising revenue. The 9PM Headlines program is expected to run for at least six months initially, with performance metrics to be reviewed thereafter.
