The Telangana government’s Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak welfare programmes celebrate their 12th anniversary, having assisted 16.78 lakh families since inception.

The state of Telangana marked a milestone for two of its flagship welfare schemes, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak, as they completed twelve years of operation. Since their launch, the programmes have collectively benefitted 16.78 lakh households across the state, providing financial support for the education of girl children and for marriage expenses.

Both schemes were introduced as part of the government’s broader effort to improve social equity and reduce the economic burden on low‑income families. Kalyana Lakshmi targets families with daughters pursuing higher education, while Shaadi Mubarak offers assistance to economically weaker sections for wedding costs.

State officials highlighted the cumulative impact of the schemes, noting that the large beneficiary count reflects sustained outreach in rural and urban areas alike. The anniversary serves as an opportunity to review implementation mechanisms and to reinforce the commitment to inclusive development.

Looking ahead, the Telangana administration has signalled its intent to continue funding the programmes and to explore additional measures that could further enhance the socio‑economic status of the state’s most vulnerable populations.
