Junior Doctors Shut OPD at Indore’s M.Y. Hospital Over Bhopal Lathi Charge

Junior doctors at M.Y. Hospital in Indore halted OPD services on Thursday, protesting the lathi‑charge on intern doctors in Bhopal and demanding higher stipends and action against the perpetrators.
On Thursday at around 11 a.m., junior doctors at Indore’s M.Y. Hospital stopped all outpatient department (OPD) activities as part of a protest against the recent lathi‑charge on intern doctors in Bhopal. The doctors gathered outside the OPD block, holding placards and chanting slogans to draw attention to the incident.
The protestors said the violent dispersal of interns in Bhopal highlighted a broader issue of safety and inadequate remuneration for medical trainees. They are demanding an increase in the stipend paid to junior doctors and a swift investigation leading to punitive action against those responsible for the lathi‑charge.
Hospital administration officials confirmed that OPD services were temporarily suspended for safety reasons and that the management is in dialogue with the doctors’ representatives. No reports of injuries or arrests were recorded during the demonstration.
