Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that Jammu and Kashmir is being positioned to attract Global Capability Centres, highlighting the region’s potential to become a major outsourcing hub.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha told reporters that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is being groomed to serve as a new hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs). He said the administration is actively promoting the region’s advantages to multinational firms looking to set up offshore delivery units.

GCCs are specialised centres that handle back‑office functions such as IT services, finance, analytics and engineering for global corporations. Sinha highlighted recent policy reforms, improved digital infrastructure and enhanced air‑road connectivity as key factors that make J&K attractive for such investments.

The LG noted that establishing GCCs could generate thousands of high‑skill jobs for the local youth and diversify the territory’s economy beyond tourism and agriculture. He also pointed to the availability of English‑proficient graduates from regional universities as a talent pool for these centres.

To translate the vision into reality, the government plans to set up a dedicated facilitation cell, offer fiscal incentives and streamline approvals for interested companies. Sinha urged Indian and foreign firms to explore the untapped potential of Jammu and Kashmir as a cost‑effective, secure location for their capability‑building operations.
