The Jammu and Kashmir police have issued a warning urging students and their parents to ignore and report fraudulent university admission messages circulating via SMS and social media.

The Jammu and Kashmir police released an advisory on Wednesday cautioning students and parents about spurious messages that claim to offer university admissions. The warning highlighted that scammers are using SMS, WhatsApp and other social platforms to lure young aspirants with promises of guaranteed seats in reputed institutions.

Authorities urged the public not to share personal details such as name, date of birth, or bank information with unknown senders. They advised verifying any admission offer directly with the concerned university through official channels before taking any action.

The police also instructed anyone who receives such messages to forward them to the local police helpline or file a complaint online. A spokesperson said that similar fraud attempts have been reported in recent weeks, causing financial loss and distress to families.

By spreading awareness, the department aims to curb the growing trend of educational scams and protect the interests of students across the region.
