J&K Minister Urges LG to Prevent Traffic Disruption from Security Convoys on State Highway

Srinagar – In a recent meeting, the Jammu and Kashmir minister directed the Lieutenant Governor to take steps that would minimise the impact of security convoy movements on the national highway. The minister emphasized that while security is paramount, the convoys should be scheduled and routed in a way that does not cause undue traffic jams or delay public transport. He asked the LG’s office to coordinate with the police and highway authorities to plan alternate routes or timing adjustments during peak hours. The directive comes amid growing complaints from commuters about frequent stoppages and long queues caused by the convoys. Officials said they will review the convoy schedule and issue guidelines to balance security requirements with public convenience.
