The Jharkhand State Information Repository (SIR) is close to its deadline, having digitised about 1.5 million applications, officials said.

Jharkhand's State Information Repository (SIR) is nearing the final phase of its digitisation drive, with roughly 1.5 million citizen applications now available in electronic form. The initiative, launched to streamline public service delivery, aims to complete the conversion before the stipulated deadline later this month.

State officials highlighted that the digitised database will enable faster processing of requests, reduce paperwork, and improve transparency across various government departments. The move is part of a broader digital governance agenda that the Jharkhand administration has been pursuing over the past year.

Authorities have set up dedicated centres across the state to assist applicants in uploading documents and verifying data. They expect the fully digitised system to cut processing times by up to 40 percent, benefiting residents seeking services ranging from land records to welfare benefits.

The SIR project, funded jointly by the state and central digital initiatives, is also expected to generate valuable data insights for policy planning. As the deadline approaches, officials are monitoring progress closely to ensure the target is met without compromising data security.

If successful, the completed digitisation could serve as a model for other Indian states aiming to modernise their public service infrastructure.
