Jharkhand CM orders planning of satellite townships in urban districts

Jharkhand's chief minister has directed senior bureaucrats to draft detailed proposals for creating satellite townships in districts that are witnessing accelerated urban growth. The instruction was issued during a recent meeting of the state’s urban development officials, emphasizing the need for systematic expansion beyond existing city limits.
The proposed townships are intended to alleviate pressure on overcrowded urban centres, provide affordable housing, and stimulate balanced regional development. Planners are expected to identify suitable land parcels, outline infrastructure requirements and ensure connectivity with main cities.
State authorities have been asked to submit preliminary plans within the next few weeks, after which the proposals will be reviewed by the chief minister’s office. The initiative aligns with broader government efforts to modernise urban planning and improve living standards across Jharkhand.
