The Jammu & Kashmir government has finished digitising land records across all 20 districts, marking a milestone in the state's e-governance efforts.
The state’s land records department announced that all 20 districts have now been fully digitised, making paper records obsolete and allowing citizens to access information online. The initiative, launched in 2019, aimed to reduce corruption and speed up land transactions. Officials said the new system will also integrate with the state’s GIS mapping platform, providing accurate property boundaries.
The digitisation effort involved scanning thousands of documents, verifying data, and uploading it to a central database. It is expected to cut processing times for land-related applications from weeks to a few days.
The government plans to extend the service to include property tax payments and dispute resolution through the same portal, further simplifying land administration.
