Punjab police have detained Randeep Singh, also known as Monu, accused of supplying improvised explosive devices for a planned large‑scale terror attack in Jalandhar on August 15.
Jalandhar rural police announced on Tuesday that they have arrested Randeep Singh, alias Monu, in connection with a suspected terrorist plot targeting the city on August 15. The suspect was taken into custody after a coordinated operation that traced the supply chain of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Police officials said Singh is alleged to have procured and supplied a BKI module used for assembling IEDs, a critical component in the alleged plan to carry out a large‑scale attack. The investigation linked him to a network that was preparing the explosives in the weeks leading up to the date.
Following the arrest, the accused was remanded before a court, where the magistrate ordered further detention to facilitate continued interrogation and evidence collection. No injuries or damage have been reported, as the plot was disrupted before any execution.
Authorities emphasized that the swift action reflects heightened vigilance in Punjab after a series of security alerts. The police continue to probe the broader conspiracy and have appealed to the public for any information that could aid the inquiry.
