A food safety squad inspected five private hospitals in Jaipur and discovered a four‑day old gravy in the refrigerator of Cocoon Hospital’s kitchen, along with artificial food colour and other irregularities.
The Rajasthan Food Safety Department conducted a routine inspection of five private hospitals in Jaipur on Tuesday. During the visit, officials entered the kitchen of Cocoon Hospital and found a container of gravy that had been stored in the refrigerator for four days.
The team also noted the presence of artificial food colour in the gravy and other hygiene violations that did not meet the standards set by the state health regulations.
Cocoon Hospital has been notified of the findings and is expected to comply with corrective measures. The food safety authorities have advised all hospitals to review their food preparation and storage protocols to prevent such lapses.
The incident highlights the importance of regular monitoring of food safety practices in healthcare facilities, where patients are especially vulnerable to foodborne illnesses.
