India's space agency ISRO successfully lifted off its navigation satellite NVS-03 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) carried out a launch of its latest navigation satellite, designated NVS-03, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The lift‑off marks another step in expanding the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), which provides positioning services across the Indian subcontinent.
NVS-03 is expected to augment the existing constellation of navigation satellites, enhancing accuracy and reliability for civilian and strategic applications such as transport, surveying, and disaster management. The satellite will be placed in a geosynchronous orbit, where it can continuously cover the region.
The launch was conducted under ISRO's routine schedule, with ground teams monitoring the vehicle's ascent and the satellite's deployment. Officials confirmed that all systems performed nominally during the flight.
ISRO officials indicated that the addition of NVS-03 will help reduce dependence on foreign navigation systems and strengthen India's autonomous space capabilities. The agency plans to continue its series of launches to complete the full IRNSS constellation in the coming years.
The successful lift‑off underscores India's growing proficiency in space technology and its commitment to providing reliable navigation services to its citizens and regional partners.
