Thousands gathered to admire elaborate lighting displays across Rajwada, Sarafa and key market areas in Indore for Diwali.
Indore has transformed its historic precincts and commercial hubs into a night‑time spectacle for the Diwali festival. Ornamental LED installations and themed lanterns now line the arches of Rajwada, illuminate the bustling Sarafa market and brighten the city’s major shopping avenues.
The decorations, commissioned by the municipal corporation, feature traditional motifs such as diyas, rangoli patterns and fireworks silhouettes, creating a cohesive festive ambience. Organisers report that the lighting project cost several crore rupees and involved coordination with local electricians and artists.
Crowds began gathering after sunset, with families, tourists and shop‑keepers strolling through the illuminated streets. Police and traffic officials have deployed additional personnel to manage the surge in footfall and ensure safety.
Local businesses say the visual makeover has boosted foot traffic, with many vendors reporting higher sales compared to previous Diwali seasons. The city hopes the display will attract more visitors in the coming days of the festival.
