Authorities in Indore say scammers are posing as Ladli Bahna officials, demanding up to ₹1,500 for fake application forms; the Women and Child Development Department confirms no new forms are being issued.
The Women and Child Development Department of Madhya Pradesh has issued an alert after reports emerged of a scam targeting women in Indore under the Ladli Bahna scheme.
Scammers are reportedly sending messages that claim a new Ladli Bahna application form must be filled and that the applicant’s name should be linked to the scheme. They then demand a payment of up to ₹1,500 to process the alleged form.
Department officials clarified that the Ladli Bahna programme does not require any fresh application or fee at this stage. Benefits are credited automatically to eligible beneficiaries, and any request for money is a clear indication of fraud.
The police have been notified and are probing the network of anti‑social elements behind the deception. Citizens are urged to verify any communication with the department through official channels and to report suspicious calls immediately.
Women are advised not to share personal or financial details with unknown callers and to approach the department directly for authentic information about the scheme.
