Indore ties rakhi to Khajrana Ganesh on Raksha Bandhan, gives sisters free bus rides

On Raksha Bandhan, devotees in Indore tied rakhi to the Khajrana Ganesh idol and city buses offered free rides to women.
Indore observed Raksha Bandhan with vibrant festivities across the city. At the Khajrana Ganesh temple, worshippers gathered to fasten rakhi strands around the deity's idol, a symbolic gesture of protection and sibling affection.
The municipal transport authority joined the celebration by waiving fares for women on all city and suburban buses. Female passengers boarded without paying any ticket, a gesture aimed at honoring sisters on the occasion.
Officials said the free‑travel scheme was limited to the day of the festival and covered routes within Indore as well as services to nearby towns. The combined religious and civic activities highlighted the city's communal spirit during the traditional holiday.
