Indore Residents Protest After 33 Years Waiting for Scheme 171 Plots

Around 6,000 residents of Indore's Scheme 171, who have been waiting 33 years for their allotted plots, surrounded the IDA office after paying a ₹5.89 crore development fee, demanding immediate possession.
The residents of Scheme 171 in Indore, a government housing project, have staged a protest after 33 years of waiting for their allotted plots.
The protest began when about 6,000 residents, frustrated by the delay, surrounded the offices of the Indore Development Authority (IDA). In a dramatic move, they entered the boardroom and recited the Hanuman Chalisa, demanding an immediate decision on possession.
Despite having paid a development fee of ₹5.89 crore, the residents have yet to receive possession of their plots. The fee was paid in the hope of expediting the process, but the delay has continued unabated.
The protestors are calling on the IDA and the municipal authorities to resolve the issue promptly and hand over the plots to the rightful owners. The authorities have yet to respond publicly to the demands.
