Indore secured the second spot in the Clean Air Survey 2026 and was honoured with the National Clean Air Appreciation Award at a ceremony in New Delhi.
Indore has been placed second among Indian cities in the Clean Air Survey 2026, a government‑backed assessment of air quality across the country. The ranking reflects significant improvements in the city’s particulate matter levels and overall atmospheric cleanliness over the past year.
The achievement was formally recognised on Saturday in New Delhi, where officials presented Indore with the National Clean Air Appreciation Award. The ceremony, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, highlighted the city’s five major interventions that contributed to the better air quality.
Authorities credited stricter vehicular emission norms, expansion of green cover, promotion of public transport, tighter industrial monitoring, and increased public awareness campaigns as the key drivers behind the improvement. The award underscores the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development and serves as a model for other Indian metros.
