Police in Indore have arrested two women for defrauding a jeweler by swapping a fake gold chain for a genuine one worth approximately Rs 2 lakh.
Indore police have cracked down on a gold fraud ring after arresting two women in the Tukoganj police station area. The accused are alleged to have deceived a local jeweler by presenting a counterfeit gold chain and exchanging it for a genuine article valued at approximately Rs 2 lakh.
During the investigation, police recovered three gold chains from the possession of the suspects. The modus operandi involved the women using a fake chain to trick the shopkeeper into handing over real gold, a common tactic in such localized scams.
The Tukoganj police are currently interrogating the arrested women to determine the extent of their criminal activities. Authorities are actively checking records to see if the duo is involved in similar incidents in other parts of the city or the state.
