Indore police detained Samir and Zakir Hussain with 254 g of MD drugs valued at about ₹2.54 million, saying they were preparing to supply the narcotics during the upcoming Dussehra and Diwali festivals.
Indore police on Tuesday seized 254 grams of MD (commonly known as MDMA) from two suspects, Samir and Zakir Hussain, during a raid in the city. The narcotics, estimated to be worth ₹2.54 million, were recovered from the duo's possession.
According to the police, the two men were planning to distribute the drugs during the upcoming Dussehra and Diwali celebrations, a period that typically sees a surge in illicit substance demand.
The arrests were part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in Madhya Pradesh, with authorities emphasizing that festive seasons often become targets for smugglers. The police have not disclosed further details about the investigation or any additional arrests.
Both suspects are currently in custody and will face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case underscores the state's ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse ahead of major public holidays.
