The Indore Metro is carrying only about 1,500 passengers daily on its 17‑kilometre line, while monthly operating costs exceed ₹5 million, prompting officials to consider reducing train frequencies.

Indore's metro system, which spans 17 kilometres, is struggling to attract passengers. Daily boardings have stalled at roughly 1,500, far below the levels anticipated when the line was launched.
The shortfall comes at a time when the service costs more than five million rupees each month to operate, a burden that municipal authorities say is unsustainable given current usage.
In response, officials are evaluating a reduction in the number of daily train trips, aiming to align service frequency with actual demand while containing expenses.
