Madhya Pradesh food safety officials revoked the licences of three Indore eateries after repeated notices failed to correct cockroach infestation, burnt oil and improper storage of veg‑non‑veg items.
Food safety officials in Indore, acting on the district collector’s directive, have suspended the food licences of three popular outlets – Bigbasket, Social and Heydeli Pizza. The move follows a series of inspection reports that highlighted serious sanitary lapses at the establishments.
Inspectors found a cockroach infestation in one kitchen, evidence of burnt oil being used for cooking, and a freezer that stored vegetarian and non‑vegetarian items together, violating the segregation norms mandated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
The licences were withdrawn after the restaurants failed to remedy the deficiencies despite receiving formal notices. The establishments will remain closed until they obtain clearance by complying with all hygiene requirements, officials said.
