Indore’s average air quality index rose to 233 before Diwali, placing it in the poor category. Chhoti Gwalton recorded the highest AQI of 233, while Regional Park remained the cleanest area with an AQI of 48.

Indore’s air pollution levels spiked ahead of the Diwali celebrations, with the city’s average AQI reaching 233, a figure that falls under the 'Poor' category according to national standards. The spike was most pronounced in the Chhoti Gwalton area, which recorded an AQI of 233, matching the city average. In contrast, the Regional Park area maintained a relatively clean environment, registering an AQI of 48, the lowest among the surveyed zones. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions, such as wearing masks and limiting outdoor activities during peak pollution hours. The rise in pollution is attributed to increased vehicular traffic, fireworks, and industrial emissions typical of the festive season.
