India's performance in shooting and athletics at the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya showed noticeable gaps compared to its strong showing at the Hangzhou edition. The results highlight areas needing improvement for the Indian contingent.
The Asian Games 2026, hosted in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, saw India compete across multiple disciplines. Early reports indicate that the country's shooting and athletics teams did not reach the medal standards achieved in the previous Hangzhou Games.
Officials noted that the performance in these two sports revealed specific shortcomings, prompting a review of training and preparation strategies. The outcome serves as a benchmark for future development ahead of upcoming international competitions.
While other sports may have shown steady or improved results, the shooting and athletics contingents faced challenges that analysts attribute to gaps in technique, experience, and support systems. The focus now shifts to addressing these issues before the next major event.
