Selectors have outlined a tentative lineup for the series‑deciding fifth T20 International, with coach Gautam Gambhir urging the return of a key star player.
The fifth and final T20 International between India and New Zealand is set to be the series’ climax, and the board has released a provisional playing XI. The suggested squad balances experienced openers with a solid middle order, includes versatile all‑rounders and a mix of pace and spin options for the bowling attack.
According to NDTV Sports, the lineup reflects the selectors’ intent to field a side capable of chasing or defending a competitive total on the day. While the exact order of batters and bowlers remains flexible, the composition signals a focus on depth and adaptability.
Coach Gautam Gambhir, who took charge earlier this year, has publicly called for the inclusion of a star player who has been out of the side for recent matches. He believes the player’s experience could prove decisive in a tightly contested finale.
The final XI will be confirmed shortly before the match, and fans will be watching closely to see whether the hinted‑at comeback materialises, potentially influencing the series outcome.
