The central government has placed Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on high alert after severe flooding in Nepal threatens spill‑over, and the National Disaster Response Force has dispatched teams to the border regions.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a high‑alert directive for the Indian states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh following the recent deluge in Nepal that raised concerns of water overflow into the Indian side of the border. The alert calls for heightened vigilance by district administrations, rapid mobilisation of relief resources, and coordination with local disaster agencies.
In response, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed several rescue and relief teams to districts bordering Nepal, including Kishanganj, Purnia, and Gorakhpur. These units are equipped to conduct evacuations, provide medical aid, and assist in sandbagging and flood‑control measures.
