Spear Corps, under the aegis of the Indian Army, inaugurated a borewell at Island Village, Imphal East District, providing the village with its first-ever source of water for drinking and agricultural purposes. The initiative addresses a critical requirement of the local community, ensuring access to water for domestic needs while supporting agricultural activities and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
The inauguration was attended by local villagers, farmers and community representatives. The facility is expected to ease water-related challenges faced by residents and contribute towards enhancing agricultural productivity and quality of life.
The event was followed by an interaction between Army personnel and local residents over tea and refreshments, fostering mutual trust, cooperation and goodwill.
Undertaken under Op Sadbhavana, the initiative reaffirms the Indian Army’s commitment to community welfare, rural development and empowerment of local communities, while strengthening the enduring bond between the Army and the people of Manipur.
