The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed a six-match One Day International series against South Africa, scheduled as a preparatory tour before the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
The BCCI announced that the Indian cricket team will tour South Africa for a six-match ODI series, starting in late March 2024. The fixtures are slated to take place in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, offering a mix of pitches that mirror the conditions expected in the 2027 World Cup venues.
The series is designed to give the Indian side a chance to fine-tune batting, bowling, and fielding strategies against a competitive opponent. South Africa’s recent form and varied pitch conditions provide an ideal testing ground for the Indian squad.
India’s selectors will use the matches to assess player fitness and form, while also experimenting with team combinations ahead of the global tournament. The tour is expected to draw significant fan interest, with matches scheduled to be broadcast across India and South Africa.
Officials have highlighted that the series will serve as a critical benchmark for India’s preparations, ensuring the team is battle-ready for the challenges of the 2027 World Cup.
