India Supports UN’s ‘Equal Earth’ Map, Cautions Against Misrepresentation of J&K and Ladakh

New Delhi has formally backed the United Nations’ Equal Earth map project, describing it as a useful tool for global data visualization. The Indian government, however, emphasized that the map must portray the country's borders correctly, particularly the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, which are integral parts of the nation.

Officials conveyed their support during a briefing at the UN, noting that accurate geographic representation is essential for maintaining the integrity of international datasets. They cautioned that any deviation could lead to misunderstandings about India's sovereign territory.
