India has welcomed the United Nations' resolution on a standard world map while objecting to the draft's inaccurate portrayal of Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan.

At the same time, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs lodged a formal objection, pointing out that the draft map incorrectly places the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir within Pakistan's borders. India maintains that the entire state is an integral part of the Republic of India, a stance reiterated in its diplomatic communications.
The ministry's note to the UN urged that the map be amended before the resolution is formally adopted, emphasizing that any misrepresentation could undermine India's territorial sovereignty.
