Tamil Nadu police intercepted a shipment of hashish oil worth Rs 17 crore, allegedly destined for the Maldives, and arrested five suspects involved in the drug trafficking ring.
Tamil Nadu police on Thursday seized a shipment of hashish oil valued at approximately Rs 17 crore, which authorities say was intended for export to the Maldives. The operation also uncovered a cache of hydroponically grown ganja, indicating a sophisticated cultivation and distribution network.
The seized oil, stored in sealed containers, was found in a warehouse near the port area, suggesting that it was being prepared for overseas shipment. Investigators believe the drugs were part of a larger trafficking scheme targeting the Maldives.
Five individuals were arrested during the raid. While the police have not released detailed profiles, they are believed to have played key roles in the procurement and transport of the illicit drugs.
Tamil Nadu Police Commissioner stated that the operation was the result of an intelligence-led investigation and that further probes will continue to dismantle the trafficking ring.
