New Delhi has formally objected to the inclusion of Jammu and Kashmir references in recent Organization of Islamic Cooperation resolutions, stating it undermines India's sovereign integrity.

New Delhi’s Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement rejecting the references to Jammu and Kashmir that appeared in the latest resolutions adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The ministry said the language contravenes India’s long‑standing position that the region is an integral part of the country and that any external commentary must respect its sovereign rights.

The OIC, a coalition of 57 Muslim‑majority states, periodically adopts resolutions on a range of political issues, and the Kashmir dispute has frequently featured in its agenda. The recent documents, circulated ahead of an OIC summit, called for renewed attention to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting India’s swift diplomatic push‑back.

India reiterated that its stance on Kashmir is guided by United Nations Security Council resolutions and bilateral talks with Pakistan, and it urged the OIC to refrain from inserting the issue into its official texts. The ministry added that such references could complicate ongoing diplomatic engagements and affect regional stability.

Analysts note that the rejection underscores New Delhi’s determination to counter what it perceives as politicisation of the Kashmir issue in multilateral forums. The government is expected to continue lobbying OIC member states to respect India’s position in future deliberations.
