India has dismissed a Chinese claim over Ladakh, asserting its sovereignty and defending the official naming of 28 geographical features in the Union Territory.
India has formally rejected a claim by China that it has sovereignty over the Ladakh region, stating that the Union Territory remains an integral part of the Republic. The government cited the 28 geographical features that have been officially named by the Indian administration as evidence of its administrative control. In a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, officials said that the naming exercise was carried out in accordance with national policies and international norms. The decision comes amid ongoing tensions along the Line of Actual Control, where both sides have periodically disputed territorial boundaries. India reiterated that any attempt to alter the status quo would be met with a firm response.
