India has dismissed the United Nations Human Rights Office’s remarks on recent Delhi protests as ‘misplaced’, asserting that the concerns do not reflect the situation on the ground.

India’s foreign ministry issued a statement on Thursday, rejecting the UN Human Rights Office’s criticism of the government’s handling of protests in Delhi.
The remarks came after the UN office released a report highlighting alleged restrictions on peaceful assembly and freedom of expression during the protests.
The Indian government said the concerns were “misplaced” and that the country’s democratic institutions and law‑enforcement agencies were functioning within constitutional limits.
The statement also called for constructive dialogue and emphasized that India remains committed to upholding human rights while safeguarding national security.
