India Pays Record Price for Fast Bowler Gurnoor Brar in IPL Auction

In the 2023 Indian Premier League auction, India paid a record price to secure Gurnoor Brar, a promising fast bowler from Punjab. Brar, who has shown impressive pace and swing in domestic cricket, was acquired for a sum that exceeded expectations, underscoring India's willingness to invest in young talent. The purchase comes as India looks to strengthen its bowling attack ahead of upcoming international commitments, with Brar expected to bring fresh energy to the squad. Analysts note that while the cost is high, the long‑term benefits of developing a homegrown fast bowler could outweigh the immediate expense.
