India objects to inaccurate depiction of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh on UN’s proposed world map

India has formally objected to any inaccurate representation of the union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in the United Nations' draft world map, warning that such depictions would misrepresent its territorial integrity.
New Delhi's Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on Monday rejecting any erroneous portrayal of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on the United Nations' proposed world map. The ministry said the draft, currently under discussion at the UN, must accurately reflect India's internationally recognised borders. "Any depiction that deviates from the factual status of these Union Territories will be considered a violation of India's sovereign rights," the statement read.
India has repeatedly raised concerns over map inaccuracies in international forums, citing past instances where its territorial claims were misrepresented. The current objection follows similar protests against maps that showed the region as part of Pakistan or as an independent entity.
The United Nations has not yet released a final version of the map, and member states are invited to submit feedback before the document is adopted. New Delhi has urged the UN to amend the draft to ensure that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are shown as integral parts of India.
