The India‑New Zealand Free Trade Agreement officially entered into force today, opening a new chapter in bilateral trade.

The India‑New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, signed earlier this year, became operational today after completing the required ratification steps in both countries.

Effective immediately, the pact will progressively remove tariffs on a wide range of products, grant greater market access for services, and streamline customs procedures, all aimed at boosting trade flows between the two economies.

Both Indian and New Zealand officials have said the agreement is expected to generate new opportunities for exporters, investors and small‑ and medium‑sized enterprises, deepening economic ties.

A joint implementation committee will oversee the rollout, monitor compliance and address any issues that arise as the new trade rules take effect.

The activation of the FTA aligns with India’s broader strategy to diversify its trade partners and enhance connectivity with the Asia‑Pacific region.
