At the Netherlands Business Forum, industry leader Goyal projected that India will sell more dishwashers than the rest of the world combined within the next five years.
New Delhi – Speaking at the Netherlands Business Forum, senior industry executive Goyal announced an ambitious target for the Indian home‑appliance sector: within five years the country is expected to sell more dishwashers than the entire world combined. The statement, reported by The Economic Times, underscores a shift in consumer preferences and rising urban purchasing power across India.
Goyal highlighted rapid urbanisation, increasing disposable incomes and a growing awareness of kitchen automation as key drivers behind the forecast. He noted that manufacturers are expanding capacity, investing in local production facilities, and tailoring products to Indian kitchen layouts, which traditionally differ from Western designs.
Analysts view the projection as a bellwether for the broader appliance market, suggesting that India could become a manufacturing hub for dishwashers destined for export as well. If realised, the surge would reshape supply chains, boost employment in related sectors, and potentially lower prices for Indian consumers.
