Railway police say a man posing as a government official duped a shop employee and walked away with nearly two kilograms of gold at Bhabhua Road station. Three suspects from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested.

Bhabhua Road railway station in Bihar's Kaimur district became the site of a gold heist when an individual pretended to be a government official and threatened a shop employee. The impostor claimed he was conducting an official inspection, which convinced the employee to hand over close to two kilograms of gold.
The suspect then fled the station with the precious metal, prompting immediate action by the railway police. Investigators traced the perpetrator to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, where they identified three men linked to the crime.
Within days, the railway police arrested all three accused, recovering the stolen gold and seizing additional evidence. The case underscores the need for vigilance against fraudsters exploiting official titles in public places.
Authorities have warned merchants and the public to verify the identity of any official before complying with requests, especially in high‑traffic locations such as railway stations.
