The Indian Meteorological Department issued an alert forecasting heavy rainfall across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, while Delhi is expected to stay dry.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather advisory today indicating that Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala will experience heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours. The alert cites a low-pressure system moving south‑westward across the peninsula, bringing intense showers and possible localized flooding in low‑lying areas.
Meteorologists expect the heaviest downpours between 6 am and 6 pm, with rainfall accumulations of 50‑100 mm in parts of Karnataka and Kerala, and 30‑70 mm in Andhra Pradesh. The IMD has warned of reduced visibility on roads and potential water‑logging in urban pockets.
Conversely, the capital region of Delhi is forecast to remain dry, with only light drizzles possible in the outskirts. Residents of Delhi are advised that no special precautions are needed at this time.
Authorities in the affected states have been instructed to activate emergency response teams, clear drainage channels and issue real‑time updates through local media and the IMD website.
