The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rain across Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Delhi today, urging residents to stay alert.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released an advisory today warning of heavy rainfall across the northern states of Haryana, Punjab, the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Meteorologists predict that the monsoon trough moving eastward will bring intense showers and possible localized flooding in the affected regions.
Authorities in the four jurisdictions have been instructed to monitor water levels in rivers and drainage systems, and to mobilise emergency response teams. Residents are advised to avoid non‑essential travel, keep away from low‑lying areas, and secure property against water damage.
The warning follows a pattern of early‑season downpours that have previously caused disruptions in the region. The IMD has urged the public to stay updated through official channels and to heed any further alerts that may be issued as the system evolves.
