The foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Information Technology’s permanent campus was laid in Mohanpur, Tripura, marking a significant step for technical education in the state.
The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) held a ceremony in Mohanpur, Tripura, to lay the foundation stone for its permanent campus. State officials and invited dignitaries participated in the event, underscoring the government's commitment to expanding higher‑education infrastructure.
The new campus is expected to house undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes in computer science, electronics and related fields. By providing state‑of‑the‑art facilities, the institute aims to attract quality faculty and students from across the country.
Education experts view the project as a catalyst for regional development, anticipating increased enrolment, skill development and employment opportunities for local youth. The campus construction is slated to proceed over the next few years, aligning with national initiatives to strengthen technical education.
Once operational, the IIIT campus will complement existing institutions in the Northeast, fostering collaborations and contributing to Tripura’s broader economic growth.
