The Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute has inaugurated a Carbon Pathshala programme aimed at training farmers in Goa on climate‑smart practices.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR‑CCARI) has officially launched a Carbon Pathshala programme for farmers in the state of Goa. The initiative was unveiled in a modest ceremony attended by institute officials and local agricultural officers.
Carbon Pathshala is designed to educate growers on carbon‑friendly farming techniques, including soil carbon sequestration, reduced tillage, and the use of organic amendments. Participants will receive hands‑on training, resource materials and access to a digital platform that tracks carbon footprints.
The institute expects the programme to enhance climate resilience among Goan farms, improve soil health and open avenues for carbon credit earnings. It aligns with national goals of promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing greenhouse‑gas emissions from the sector.
