Indian Air Force helicopters have completed 15 sorties, delivering over 5,600 dry ration packets and more than 28 tonnes of food to flood‑affected and hard‑to‑reach areas in Saran district.

Bihar’s Saran district has been hit hard by recent floods, leaving many villages isolated and in urgent need of food and supplies. In response, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has launched an aerial relief operation to reach the most affected areas.

Over the past few days, IAF helicopters have conducted 15 sorties, dropping more than 5,600 dry‑ration packets and over 28 tonnes of food items directly onto villages that are cut off by water and damaged roads.

The air‑drop missions were coordinated with local authorities and relief agencies to ensure that the packages reached the intended recipients. Each helicopter carried a mix of staples such as rice, pulses, and cooking oil, along with essential items for the displaced families.

Local officials have praised the swift response, noting that the aerial delivery has provided immediate relief to hundreds of households and helped stabilize the situation in the hardest‑hit pockets of the district.
