Hundreds of SUMP Activists Gherao Arunachal Bhawan in Delhi, Call for Release of Detainees

Around a few hundred members of the Sikkim United Movement Party (SUMP) staged a gherao at Arunachal Bhawan in Delhi, demanding the immediate release of detained activists.
Delhi – On Saturday, a sizeable contingent of Sikkim United Movement Party (SUMP) supporters gathered outside Arunachal Bhawan, the official residence of the Arunachal Pradesh state government in the capital. The protesters formed a gherao, encircling the building and holding placards that called for the release of individuals they say have been detained in connection with recent political activities.
According to statements released by the SUMP leadership, the detainees are members of the party who were arrested earlier this week on charges that the party describes as politically motivated. The activists assert that the arrests violate democratic rights and have urged the central and state authorities to intervene.
Police presence was noted around the venue, but no clashes were reported as of the latest updates. The protest remained peaceful, with participants chanting slogans and demanding a prompt hearing for the arrested members.
