Music director Himesh Reshammiya disclosed that the 2013 film Khiladi 786 incurred an extra ₹1 crore in production costs because it was shot on film rather than digital.

Music composer and actor Himesh Reshammiya has revealed that the 2013 Bollywood film Khiladi 786 cost an additional ₹1 crore during production. The extra expense, he said, stemmed from the decision to shoot the film on 35‑mm film stock instead of using digital cameras.

Reshammiya explained that while digital filming offers lower material and processing costs, the production team opted for film to achieve a particular aesthetic. The choice resulted in higher costs for film stock, processing, and post‑production work.

He added that the decision was not driven by artistic necessity but rather a preference that ultimately led to the increased budget. The director and the rest of the crew were reportedly unaware of the cost implications at the time of shooting.

The revelation comes as a reminder of the financial differences between traditional film and modern digital production techniques in the Indian film industry.
