The Himachal Pradesh government announced a plan to achieve 80-85% doctor availability in its medical colleges by next year, as stated by Chief Minister P.S. Sukhu.

Chief Minister P.S. Sukhu announced on Thursday that the state aims to raise doctor availability in its medical colleges to 80‑85% by the end of next year. The move follows concerns over a persistent shortage of faculty that hampers student training. The government will roll out recruitment drives, offer incentives and partner with private institutions to fill the gaps. If achieved, the target is expected to improve the quality of medical education and strengthen the state’s healthcare workforce.
